Aaron K. Crocker films is proud to announce that we are in production of “Jade” a silent feature-length film that falls into the psychological-thriller/horror genre and follows Jade, a girl who, facing neglect at home finds solace wandering the city, the riverbanks, and the woods-where she encounters an ominous entity.

As tension builds in her world and the instability escalates, Jade comes to realize one hard and raw truth: Often, reality is more frightening than the monster in the closet.

“Jade” is a very personal project to me; the film came from a childhood truth that I so often have wished wasn’t real. Consisting of no dialogue or spoken words, “Jade” reflects a quiet dread that comes from the moments we actually live through as opposed to shadows or the unseen.

Set against the backdrop of historical Fredericksburg, Virginia, the narrative flows through beautiful spaces such as the Rappahannock River and historical downtown, and as much as these scenes are beautiful, they are also very raw and real as one of the most meaningful moments takes place at the FXBG Free Closet. Though the scene in which Jade takes advantage of the resources offered is fictional, the reality it is meant to reflect does not stray far from the lived experiences of many.

Including the FXBG Free Closet is significant to me as I see films depicting people in need, and I feel sometimes they ask us to suspend belief–in that a character lost a job or finds themself in a financial struggle but somehow ‘has’ these resources, with little or no explanation. I want to break that illusion and reflect the real places and efforts behind those places that help people get by. I am honored to be allowed to include the Free Closet in “Jade”.

It is my hope that through silence, “Jade” is a film that speaks to everyone in a space where no words are needed.

I’m directing, filming, and editing “Jade” myself but am excited to say that the film will have original music composed and performed by Mandy Rivera. I’m also hoping to finish “Jade” by late January/ early February of 2026.
